Equifax Data Breach
On September 7, 2017, Equifax Incorporated (a consumer credit reporting agency) announced a security breach that impacted 143 million Americans. Criminal hackers were able to gain access to personal information such as names, credit card numbers, birth dates, and Social Security numbers.
Equifax has created a website with updates and guidance on next steps for anyone that may be affected by the breach. Go to www.equifaxsecurity2017.com for more information. You may also consider signing up for a credit monitoring service so that you can be alerted of potentially fraudulent activity.
As a best practice, we recommend that you regularly review your credit and debit card statements. If anything looks out of the ordinary, please contact Inspirus Credit Union at 888-628-4010.
