The following are common questions from our members and the answers that normally fulfill the associated need. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us directly via phone at 206-628-4010, toll free at 888-628-4010 or via secured message within your digital banking account.

Will my card still work while I am traveling?

If you plan to be traveling out of the state or overseas, please let us know so we can make sure your cards will continue to work during your trip. Please contact us at 1-888-628-4010 or send us a secure email by logging into Online Banking and clicking Messages in the top, right menu. Let us know your travel dates and where you will be going.

Is there a fee if I use my debit or credit card overseas?

If you use your Visa debit or credit card while you are traveling internationally or make a purchase with a company that bills from outside the US, Visa will add a 1% surcharge to each transaction with the exception of the Signature credit card. The fee will appear as a separate item on your statement.

This is Visa's currency conversion fee. The credit union does not add any additional charges to your international transactions.

Does the EMV card affect international travel?

Now that you can check out using chip technology, it will most likely be easier to pay internationally. The global community often requires EMV chip-enabled cards. Some unattended terminals will require a PIN; others simply do not accept U.S. issued debit cards – those purchases may appear as "Transaction Cancelled." Ask the clerk for assistance, and don't forget you can always call Inspirus Credit Union for help.
