So far, we’ve helped over 2,000 students and counting. Flash funding school projects In 2016, Inspirus sponsored 42 standout high school and college students interested in biomedical research and healthcare to spend the summer interning with world-class cancer researchers at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Fred Hutchinson summer high school internship program Inspirus donated $20,000 to help this community-accessible college build programs to help students complete their degrees and equip new facilities to train students for living-wage jobs. Green River College ‘50 Years Forward’ Campaign When technology upgrades or space reconfigurations require us to replace equipment, we don’t send our gently used electronics and office furniture to recyclers or the landfill. Instead, we donate them to schools in need. The computer science program at Highline School District, for example, recently received nine laptops and 34 work stations from Inspirus to support their nationally recognized computer science program. In-kind equipment donations Giving back, our promise. Giving has been part of our DNA since 1936 when a Seattle school teacher founded Inspirus to help his co-workers survive the Great Depression. We believe that education is still our future, both as a not-for-profit credit union and as part of a rapidly changing society. With the help of our members, Inspirus gives back a portion of our net earnings to schools, teachers, and students across the state.
